Martha Stewart: “I Don’t Care Who The Person Is; I Care About What The Person Does”

Martha Stewart: “I Don’t Care Who The Person Is; I Care About What The Person Does”

Martha Stewart recently had an interview with PrideSource to talk about Gay Weddings. It’s no secret that Martha carries a deep love and connection with the LGBTQ community. Many gay men perceive her as a motherly figure and perhaps that’s due in large part to her perfection and how she simply creates a work of art with practically everything she touches.

Martha Stewart has had her fair share of attending same-sex weddings and she stated that they are much more similar to opposite-sex weddings than most people even realize.

Stewart has been there since the beginning fighting for same-sex marital rights, long before the laws changed in 2015. In fact, it was her own magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, who featured for the first time in mainstream media, a same-sex couples wedding ceremony.

Stewart, 76, is quoted by PrideSource as saying “I don’t differentiate a gay wedding from a straight wedding,”

The issue now that many are focusing on is the decision the Supreme Courts will come to regarding whether business owners have the right to refuse their services to same-sex couples based on their religious views.

It is decisions like this that helped form the creation of Gay-Unions so that same-sex couples don’t even need to have “that talk” with their potential vendors.
