Martha Stewart: “I Don’t Care Who The Person Is; I Care About What The Person Does”
Martha Stewart recently had an interview with PrideSource to talk about Gay Weddings. It’s no secret that Martha carries a deep love and connection with the LGBTQ community. Many gay men perceive her as a motherly figure and perhaps that’s due in large part to her perfection and how she simply creates a work of art with practically everything she touches. Martha Stewart has had her fair share of attending same-sex weddings and she stated that they are much more similar to opposite-sex weddings than most people even realize. Stewart has been there since the beginning fighting for same-sex marital rights, long before the laws changed in 2015. In fact, it was her own magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings, who featured for the first time in mainstream media, a same-sex couples wedding ceremony. Stewart, 76, is quoted by PrideSource as saying “I don’t differentiate a gay wedding from a straight wedding,” The issue now that many are focusing on is the decision the Supreme Courts will come to regarding whether business owners have the right to refuse their services to same-sex couples based on their religious views. It is decisions like this that helped form the creation of Gay-Unions so that same-sex couples don’t […]
Politics as usual in Washington – Clinton vs Kavanaugh
Last Thursday, Christine Blasey Ford recounted many details at the Senate Judiciary Hearing regarding the night Brett Kavanaugh allegedly assaulted her when they were in high school in 1982, Kavanaugh responded with anger, tears, deflection, dissembling, and blame. With conspiracy theories being tossed around that there was some sort of plotted revenge on behalf of the Clintons for losing the Presidency. This kind of scene is usually found on prime time on NBC. At The Atlantic Festival in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton laughed off the accusation before offering up sobering thoughts about Kavanaugh’s possible ascension to the Supreme Court, according to CNN. “It was just part of the whole of his defensive and unconvincing presentation,” Clinton replied after laughing when The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg asked about Kavanaugh’s blame-throwing at the Clintons. “They give us a lot of credit. Thirty-six years ago we started this against him,” Clinton joked. “Back at Yale,” Goldberg suggested. “Even before. In high school, apparently,” Clinton replied. Kavanaugh’s open remarks were certainly quite heated and a bit far-fetched. Although in the political realm we constantly find ourselves in, it would seem nothing is impossible. He is quoted as saying “A calculated and orchestrated political […]
Recent Study Says Kids Raised By Gay Parents Are Fine…DUH!
To think that a study was even warranted for this logical conclusion is just ridiculous, but worse studies have been commisioned. The haters in this world who proclaim to know all this parenting have just been proved wrong. These anti-gay parenting advocates just don’t get it. Not everything is onesided and narrowminded. It’s time to stop the condemnation of love for our children because of your political and hidden agenda’s. The Journal of Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics conducted by Wolters Kluwer actually proved that children with queer parents were in no way, shape, or form disadvantaged growing up for having less “traditional” parents. They also go on to say “Our findings suggested that children with same-sex parents farewell, both in terms of psychological adjustment and prosocial behavior,” said Professor Roberto Baiocco, PhD, from the Sapienza University of Rome. The study looked at Italian families, ranging from gay dads, lesbian moms, and straight couples as parents of children aged three to 11. The parents all took a survey, indicating their own levels of success as a family. “The present study warns policy-makers against making assumptions on the basis of sexual orientation about people who are more suited than others to be parents or about […]
Playboy Features First Transgender Playmate
In other groundbreaking news, the world of Playboy who recently lost it’s founding father Hugh Hefner has just announced that it will have it’s first ever transgender playmate. Ines Rau will grace the pages of Playboy in the November spread. Rau is a 26-year-old model from Paris, France, and she says… “I will always fight for LGBTQ rights and women’s rights,” Rau tells Playboy, “but above everything else, my cause is the environment. Nothing touches me more than fighting against global warming. I was made to fight for the planet—the forest, the animals, the air. If I get famous, that’s my first battle.” Naturally, when you do something different like this, there will always be backlash, but Playboy is fighting back on social media noting that in the 1991 September issue they featured transgender model Tula and prior to that they faced much resistance in 1965 with their first black Playmate. Facing adversity is certainly nothing new to this powerhouse magazine, and keeping up with the change in times is something they never seem to be afraid of and have no issues with embracing.
